Tien Fu Wu: Freedom Warrior Comic Biography by Dawn K. Wing

$25.00

“‘Tien Fu Wu: Freedom Warrior- a comics biography’ is filled with lessons of courage, tenacity and integrity of a Chinese American human trafficking survivor overcoming tremendous obstacles during a time of overtly racist, misogynistic policies against Asian women in the United States during the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Venturing through Wu’s life story, readers can draw historical connections that provide relevant context to the ongoing fight for the dignity and human rights of immigrants and women in our nation today.

This illustrated, researched narrative told through Wu’s perspective traces her roots in China (where she was born and eventually sold into child enslavement), then into her transformation as a court translator and human rights advocate for Chinese girls and women escaping forced prostitution in the United States. Wu’s tales of resilience and conscience in service to her faith demonstrate the power of the human spirit in overcoming challenges we face individually and collectively.

Learn about Wu's incredible life journey where she navigated uncharted territories, socially and politically, especially as a woman of Asian descent during her time, in this full-color graphic narrative written and illustrated by librarian/comics artist Dawn K. Wing who is a third-generation Chinese American and granddaughter of a
paper son.
